On November 3, Capitol Records will release Have You Heard of Christmas? – a yuletide dance-pop album from The Prince of Christmas himself, Matt Rogers. The 12-track set will include songs from his acclaimed 2022 Showtime special of the same name, decked out with new mixes and surprise collaborations. The album is also available for pre-order on black vinyl at the Capitol Records store and in a “frosty” vinyl edition that’s exclusive to Urban Outfitters. Have You Heard of Christmas? is the latest holiday release from the historic Hollywood label that brought the world Nat King Cole’s The Magic of Christmas, A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra and Jackie Gleason’s Merry Christmas, among many other festive releases.
Rogers will kick off a 12-night holiday tour on December 1 at Philadelphia’s Miller Theater. The headline run will take him across North America and wrap up with shows at The Ace In Los Angeles (December 21) and The Town Hall in New York City. The artist tour pre-sale will launch on Tuesday, October 10, at 10:00 AM local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, October 13, at 10:00 AM local time. Hailing Have You Heard of Christmas? as one of the best comedy specials of 2022, VULTURE said, “It is buoyant and shiny and memorable, and by making it a musical special, Rogers captures that ineffable thing about the holiday that’s so captivating and inane and hard to hit.” The New York Times observed, “In this booming alt-comedy genre, Matt Rogers’s new Showtime special, ‘Have You Heard of Christmas? – which straddles lines between holiday album spoof and dead serious homage, ironic schmaltz and genuine emotion – stands out for its commitment to sultry-to-the-point-of-silly songs.” Variety noted, “It’s proudly queer with Sandra Bernhard’s comedy, Liza Minelli’s camp and Hugh Jackman’s showmanship running through Rogers’ rainbow-colored tinsel.”
Named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” Matt Rogers is a multi-hyphenate creative on the rise with undeniable talent and charm. Rogers most recently headlined his debut comedy special based on his sold-out live show of the same name, Have You Heard of Christmas?, premiering to much praise on Showtime. This success was on the heels of his standout performance in the revolutionary queer romantic comedy, Fire Island, opposite Bowen Yang and Joel Kim Booster. The groundbreaking film earned the Ensemble Tribute at the 2022 Gotham Awards and several award nominations including the 2023 PGA Awards, 2023 Emmy Awards, and the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards. That same year, he was heralded for his scene-stealing performance in the Showtime comedy series, I Love That For You, created by Vanessa Bayer and Jeremy Beiler. Rogers is also the host of the widely popular podcast Las Culturistas alongside Yang, which recently won ‘Podcast of the Year’ at the 2023 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. The duo recently hosted their second annual Culture Awards at the Lincoln Center in New York in front of a live audience spanning over 3,000 people – with guest appearances that included Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, and Andy Cohen.
