DIVINELY UNINSPIRED TO A HELLISH EXTENTLEWIS CAPALDI’S DEBUT ALBUM, OUT MAY 17
U.S. JUNE TOUR ANNOUNCED – ON SALE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd

Lewis Capaldi will release his debut album — Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent – on May 17th via Capitol Records.  The 22-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter also announced plans for a U.S. June tour and recently shared the official video for his new single, “Someone You Loved,” which stars Scottish actor Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor in the iconic British television show “Dr. Who” and is a distant cousin of Lewis.

The video, which can be viewed HERE, amassed over one million views in four days and trended on YouTube, hitting #2. “Someone You Loved” and Peter Capaldi also trended on Twitter on the day of release.

In an open, heartfelt letter, Lewis Capaldi explains:

I’m absolutely buzzing to finally be able to announce my debut album. I never thought I’d get to the point where I’d be able to release a proper album and I ABSOLUTELY never thought that when I did, I would give it a name as stupid I have, but here we are.

Everyone always tells you about how amazing recording their first album was and how they’ll always look back on the ‘process’ with fond memories. I will look back on it as an extremely stressful time that somehow also managed to be extremely boring. The actual process of building the songs up I loved, but recording the same guitar parts over and over again to get them right and going back on mixes for weeks, I did not.

I hope people don’t think it’s shit. I mean don’t get me wrong there will be one or two stinkers on there, but I’m only human and we all make mistakes, but as a whole I think it’s pretty fucking good.

I’m excited for it to be released and have people finally be able to hear a full body of work from me for the first time. Should it bomb completely or receive an absolute critical lambasting, don’t worry, it’s just my life’s work up until this point….

Recorded over an 18-month period in London, New York and Los Angeles, Capaldi co-wrote each of the 12 songs, working with Malay who also produced, (Frank Ocean, Lorde) Jamie Hartman (Calvin Harris, Rag N Bone Man) and TMS. Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is an ironically titled, but charismatically defining album that’s lyrically candid and a realistic snapshot of the ups and downs of growing up. Lewis’ stunningly identifiable voice, coupled with its turbulent themes of love, loss and heartache, make it a debut album that is both poignant and unequivocally relatable.

Fans who pre-order Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, available at all digital partners, will instantly receive “Someone You Loved” plus the previously released “Grace,”  Bruises,” “Lost on You” and “Fade.” A CD box set featuring colored vinyl with metallic cover, sunglasses and Lewis calendar is now available exclusively at http://shop.lewiscapaldi.com

His U.S. tour, which kicks off on June 1st at The Sinclair in Boston, will include a June 4th show at New York City’s Irving Plaza. It will wrap up at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on June 12th. Worldwide streams of “Someone You Loved” have topped 60 million while cumulative global streams of all Capaldi’s songs now exceed 400 million. Idolator predicted, “Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’ Is Going To Be Big…It goes without saying that he’s One To Watch.”  Directed by Phil Beastall – known for the short viral film Love is a Gift – the “Someone You Loved” video heightens awareness of the need for organ donors.
